IGDASSC First Meeting on 12th Jan 2008
The new year is here, and with it, a new year for the IGDASSC. We are going to kick-off the IGDA Singapore Student Chapter with an ‘open house’ meeting on the 12th January 2008, at NUS.
Venue: CNM Playroom, AS6 Level 3.
Time: 2:00pm
Meet at NUS Arts, Central Library at 1.45pm if you don’t know the way and would like to go together with us.
So what is going to happen? You can expect:
- An introduction of who’s who in the IGDASSC
- What we have done so far since our ‘unofficial formation’ in Sept ‘07
- What we can do together
- A get to know each other session
I think this is worth repeating: as long as you are a student or NSF who have a passion for any aspect of games development (computer, board, card, pen and paper) and are willing to learn and/or commit the time, you are more than welcome to join us.
There is no formal obligation or membership - you commit as much as you are willing to, because we all have one big obligation called exams. Look through the rest of our site to get a feel of who we.
You do not have to be from an IT, Game Design or Game Development course. Please don’t hesitate to email extrakun@yahoo.com.sg if you have any questions, or even better, post them in the forum!
Edit: MDA Gambit will be there too to discuss their plans for student games development and share their insights with us.
It would be great to if you sign up for our forum and RSVP in this thread!
Comments (0)Forums are up!
The IGDASSC forums are up! Check out the Interact panel on the lower left hand corner, and you will see links which you can join to partake in our small (but growing!) community. Looking forward to talk to you inside the forum! We are still trying to fix the look of the forum so that it looks different from the default one, but meanwhile, post away!
Also, we have started a new YahooGroup mailing list. This is for announcements only, so if you want to keep up to date with our events, just subscribe to it. We encourage all proper discussions to take place at the centralised forums ![]()
Boardgames@Settlers
On 28th December, Friday, we had a day of fun with board games at Settlers Clarke Quay. It was a day filled with danger and suspense from Instant-Kills and Full-life-still-got-Killed incidents in the game Junkyard to heated sessions of Deal or No Deal and an one-on-one battle between Weiliang and Sean in the game I’m the Boss - where no one’s ready to sit down quietly (much to Bruce’s amusement haha).
We also got a chance to give Desmond’s Game, Junkyard (remember it well Kun!), a spin which led to a show-down between Terrick and Wei-man and spurned an ad-hoc After Action Review (AAR for the SAF-savvy) by our expert group made up of Mr. Alex Mitchell, Bruce, Lyon, Kunxin and Justin. Desmond will be expecting constructive feedback soon. However what he didn’t expect was being branded the “Saboteur of the Day” after he successively proved his mettle at being the villain in the game of Saboteur, so much so that no one believed him when he finally became one of the gold diggers!
The other games we played are the multi-dimensional Settlers of Catan and St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg proved to be such a favorite amongst the team that it was played again after dinner! In nearly all the games Kunxin won with decisive *cough*Imbalanced*cough* victory. However Justin may just outwit Kunxin in the next St. Petersburg show-down, since he only lost to Kunxin by 3 points in the last game!
Many Thanks to Alex for taking time off to join us for the session. We hope that you can join us in future events if your schedule permits.
More sessions will sure be coming up… stay tuned!

On the 22nd December, 2007, veterans of Company of Heroes gathered at Parklane Shopping Mall for a friendly tournament, of 4 vs. 4 matches. Emerging victorious from the chaos of pounding machine guns, trembling rolling tanks and hail of artillery fire is the team comprising of Mistenth, Prodigal, Solidus and Carnage!
We want to thank the moderators of the Relics Official Forums for allowing us to spread the news of the tournament on their board. And yes, there will be a next time!
At the same time, we also want to thank Eng Teck Tan, a super-enthused CoH player himself, for giving us the opportunity to organise this friendly competition.
